M. Tracy Boatwright

Mr. Boatwright began his career in the fire service in 1973 with the Marion Fire Department and served in a variety of positions from Training Officer to Battalion Chief.
Mr. Boatwright began his political public service in local government as a Marion City Council Member from 1984-1986. His leadership and ability led him to be elected as a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1987 to 1992. As a State Representative, Mr. Boatwright chaired and co-chaired a variety of Committees such as Roads and Transportation, Cities and Towns, and as a Combat Veteran, was House Sponsor and Chairman of the Commission of Military and Veterans Affairs.
During the 1993 session of the Indiana General Assembly, Mr. Boatwright served on the staff of Governor Evan Bayh as a Liaison to the House of Representatives and was subsequently appointed as the Indiana State Fire Marshal. During his tenure as State Fire Marshall, he was a member of the National Association of State Fire Marshal's, serving as a Board Member and Secretary Treasurer; Indiana Arson and Crime Association; International Fire Code Institute; International Association of Fire Chiefs; National Fire Protection Association; and International Conference of Building Officials. In 1997, Mr. Boatwright was instrumental in the implementation of the Hoosier Burn Camp, Inc.
Mr. Boatwright, after eleven years of service, retired as Indiana State Fire Marshal. He now continues his strong sense of public service in representing the clients of The Third House Advocacy Group in Government Relations in Indiana. |
